Orion System Products |
The VCM-X Controller is designed with 7 analog inputs, 2 analog outputs, and 5 relay outputs. With the addition of the E-BUS Distribution Module and one or more of the E-BUS Expansion Modules such as the Dual Digital Module (2 Digital Compressor Control), Full Digital Module (4 Digital Compressor Control), One Condenser Head Pressure Module (Control of Head Pressure For Single Condensor Units), Two Condenser Head Pressure Module (Control of Head Pressure For Two Condensor Units), WSHP Protection Module (Control of WSHP Units when used with the VCM-X WSHP Controller) The VCM-X Controller can be configured for control of VAV Units (with or without VAV/Zone Controllers), Constant Volume Units, Variable Air Volume (VAV) (Stand Alone or Integrated w/VAV Boxes), Single Zone VAV, Make-up Air (MUA) Zoning and when used in conjunction with AAON® HVAC units it can also control Dual Mode MUA/CAV, PAC & DPAC configurations. Many common HVAC unit control applications can be configured using only the VCM-X Controller itself. If the application requires more inputs and/or outputs, the VCM-X Expansion Modules mentioned previously can be used to provide for additional analog, binary, or digital inputs and outputs as required. Protocol Adaptability is also available by using the PT-Link II Interface which allows the VCM-X controller to interface with BACnet®, LON®, and N2® Protocols.

The VAV/Zone Controller Actuator Package is used for VAV terminal or zone terminal applications. The VAV/Zone Controller, Damper Actuator are housed together in a plastic enclosure for ease of field or factory installation. For Pressure Independent applications an Airflow Sensor is also mounted in the plastic enclosure with tubing connections on the outside of the enclosure. The VAV/Zone Controller Actuator Package is also supplied with modular connectors for connection of pre-fabricated communication cables providing for easy field installation. Control for fan terminals, electric heat and modulating hot water heat is available by use of the optional Fan/Reheat Expansion Module which connects to the controller via a modular cable.
The VAV/Zone Controller Actuator Package is designed to use a Modular Room Sensor or a Digital Room Sensor which also connect to the board via a modular cable.
The Orion Flush Mount Room Sensors are so unique they are patented. The sensor is tamper resistant and does not require a guard for protection. The sensors are Type III, 10K ohm thermistor.

The Orion Touch Screen Digital Room Sensors are used to sense Space Temperature only or Space Temperature & Space Humidity. The OE217-00 model is the Space Temperature Sensor only model and can be used with the VCM-X Controller and the VAV/Zone Controller Actuator Packages. The OE217-01 is a combination Space Temperature & Space Humidity Sensor model and can only be used with the VCM-X Controller. Besides sensing Temperature & Humidity, the Digital Room Sensors also provide these other useful features:

The System Manager TS Communication Interface provides a direct graphic-enhanced, menu- driven link to enable the system operator to view the status and to adjust the setpoints of any controller on the Orion control system. The System Manager TS is equipped with a 4.3" 480 x 272 WQVGA RGB TFT LCD Touch Screen Display able to display 16 million colors. The System Manager TS utilizes a graphical touch screen menu system with easy to understand menu trees and icons and non-cryptic plain English language messages.
The graphic programming and status screens are very intuitive and provide the user with easy setup and operation without the need for specialized training. Protection from unauthorized users is provided by the System Manager's integral multi-level pass code authorization programming.
The PT-Link II Protocol Translator is used to provide bidirectional translation of data and information between a specific communication protocol and the Orion HVAC unit controllers. Protocol specific plug in modules currently allow the PT-Link II to communicate with BACnet®, LON®, and Johnson N2® protocol devices. This provides for integration with any future protocols that may be released by means of a simple plug-in module on the PT-Link II. The PT-Link II is supplied complete with one communication protocol module installed.
The LON® version allows (1) Orion controller to be connected to the PT-Link II Protocol Translator. The Johnson N2® and BACnet® protocols allow up to (4) Orion controllers to be connected to the PT- Link II Protocol Translator. |
