The Orion system components are designed to be integrated with the AAON®/WattMaster Factory Packaged Controls. The components that are available allow HVAC equipment with AAON®/WattMaster Factory Packaged Controls installed to be interconnected, networked and expanded to provide a complete building system solution for the customer.

When a HVAC unit is supplied from the factory with AAON®/ WattMaster Factory Packaged controls, the units are complete with all sensors, expansion boards and necessary components to provide a stand alone system that is ready to operate without any other components. If the building only has 1 constant air volume HVAC unit this may be all that the customer wants or needs. However, a majority of facilities have 2 or more HVAC units. Also some or all of these units may have VAV or Zoning terminal units attached.

The Orion system components allow the customer to connect these HVAC and terminal units together into an integrated building control system with central point set-up and monitoring. Configuration set-up and monitoring is facilitated by the Orion Modular Service Tool, Orion Modular System Manager, and/or an on-site or remote PC running the Orion Prism graphical computer software. The Orion Prism Software is free and updates can be downloaded from this site.

In addition to the ability to connect and communicate with all the HVAC equipment on the building or facility, Orion systems can be used to enhance HVAC equipment operation or control other equipment with the addition of various add-on devices available from WattMaster. These devices include the Lighting Panel Controller, GPC Plus Controller and the GPC-17 Controller.

VAV/Zone Controller Kits are available for factory mounting of your Orion controls by your preferred terminal unit manufacturer. WattMaster also has VAV/Zone Round Air Damper Assemblies complete with Orion controls available for VAV and Zoning applications. Aluminum opposed blade Rectangular Dampers are also available from WattMaster along with factory packaged VAV/Zone Rectangular Damper Kits that field mount directly over the rectangular damper shaft. These Rectangular Damper Kits can be used on WattMaster's Rectangular Dampers or any manufacturers rectangular damper that has a ½" diameter shaft.

All VAV/Zone Kits, VAV/Zone Round Air Dampers and VAV/Zone Rectangular Damper Kits are designed with Molex® connector terminals on the VAV/Zone Controllers for easy connection between controllers and to the power and communication circuits. A Power/Comm Distribution Board with Molex® connectors is used to distribute communications and 24VDC power to all VAV/Zone Controllers on the power/communication loop.

Modular cables with Molex® connectors are available in 25, 40, 80 and 120 feet lengths for connections between controllers and between the Power/Comm Distribution Boards. Extension cables are offered in 10 and 20 feet lengths to eliminate any need for cable splicing. Simply plug the controllers into the cable connectors. Modular Room Sensors connect to the VAV/Zone Controllers using a 25 foot prefabricated modular cable terminated with RJ-45 (phone jack type) connectors eliminating any potential sensor wiring errors. Couplers are also available to extend the length of the standard 25-foot long prefabricated cable.
